Come learn and make your very own Japanese Stab Binding notebook at this workshop inspired by Sage’s recent travels to Japan. In this two-hour workshop, each participant will learn the basics of folding paper, tools, and techniques for book construction and get to take home their very own handmade notebook! No prior experience necessary.
Ven y aprende a hacer tu propio cuaderno con encuadernación japonesa en este taller inspirado en los recientes viajes de Sage a Japón. En este taller de dos horas, cada participante aprenderá los fundamentos de doblar papel, herramientas y técnicas para la construcción de libros, ¡y podrá llevarse a casa su propio cuaderno hecho a mano! No se necesita experiencia previa.
Sage Serrano is an artist, designer, and bookbinder native to San Diego, CA. She received her MFA in Painting & Printmaking from San Diego State University and her BA in Visual Arts Studio with honors from UC San Diego. She is currently a visiting lecturer at Point Loma Nazarene University and a lecturer at San Diego State University. Sage has extensive knowledge in various bookbinding, papermaking, and paper folding techniques. Her artist books and handmade paper are held in special collections and have been exhibited in various exhibitions across the United States and internationally. She has taught workshops at libraries, high schools, colleges, and universities across California.
