ArtReach San Diego’s After School Art Classes provide students with an inspiring, professional studio experience. Voted Best Art Classes for Kids in San Diego Magazine’s Best of 2025, our 6-week programs are designed to cultivate creative confidence, social-emotional growth, and technical skill through hands-on projects led by practicing artists.

Winter 2026: January 27 – March 5

Tuesdays at 4:30 PM
Sewing
  • Practice hand-sewing techniques and basic stitches.
  • Learn safe machine operation and troubleshooting.
  • Develop project planning skills, from sketching ideas to finished product.
  • Create functional and decorative items (pouches, pillows, small accessories).
  • Complete a final showcase project to share with family and peers.
Wednesdays at 4:30 PM
Fashion Up-Cycling
  • Learn eco-conscious design principles and sustainable materials use.
  • Practice creative mending, embellishment, and customization.
  • Transform old clothing into unique wearable items.
  • Build a mini portfolio of designs and up-cycled projects.
  • Present a final wearable project at the end-of-session showcase.
Thursdays at 4:30 PM
Clay
  • Create pinch pots and basic hand-built forms.
  • Explore coil building and sculptural techniques.
  • Plan and execute a final clay project, incorporating learned techniques.
  • Paint, glaze, and decorate finished pieces for visual impact.
  • Participate in a final showcase, reflecting on their process and growth.

Spring 2026: March 17 – April 30

  • Learn fundamentals of color mixing, brushwork, and composition.
  • Experiment with different painting mediums (acrylic, watercolor, tempera).
  • Create sequential projects to develop and refine techniques.
  • Explore personal expression and storytelling through art.
  • Display completed works in a final showcase for family and peers.
Thursdays at 4:30 PM
2D Mixed Media
  • Explore collage, drawing, and printmaking techniques.
  • Experiment with textures, patterns, and material combinations.
  • Develop creative problem-solving skills through project iteration.
  • Reflect on and revise projects to strengthen personal voice.
  • Present finished works in a final showcase, sharing their creative story.
