YMCA: The Chronicle of Us
The Community Support Services division of the YMCA of San Diego County implemented The Chronicle of Us project to empower staff. They were provided opportunities to creatively express their stories related to work in social services and their relationship with the Y as a mission-driven nonprofit organization.
ArtReach was honored to partner with YMCA to create workshops for their staff. Workshops were designed to support these five components: parental resilience, social connections, knowledge of child development, social and emotional competence, and concrete support in times of need. The workshops also included the design and painting of the collaborative mural at YMCA’s Oz San Diego site, titled “It wasn’t a dream. It was a place.” Over 60 people worked on this mural, including youth and staff from Oz as well as YMCA Community Support Services staff. For more information on this mural, click here.
With this volume, we hope that you learn more about the issues that YMCA advocates for, how they address them, and the impact they are making in the community.
