Laurie is an arts educator, painter, and illustrator based in San Diego, California. She manages and facilitates all curriculum and studio design for The Sun Room, ArtReach’s dedicated youth studio space. There, she leads after-school art classes that focus on both traditional techniques and the work of contemporary artists, and she runs Drop-In Play, a sensory-based art experience for toddlers and their caregivers.
Outside of ArtReach, Laurie maintains a personal art practice rooted in oil painting and graphite drawing. Her work combines vibrant abstract backgrounds with traditional representational imagery, exploring themes of identity, feminism, and personal narrative. Laurie holds a BFA from the Laguna College of Art and Design and is always looking for new ways to grow as both an artist and educator.
When she’s not in the studio, Laurie enjoys exploring San Diego’s nature with her family and friends. She is a lover of a warm sunny day paired with a delicious meal alongside her partner and dog. Other times, you will find her relaxing drawing on her couch or plotting her next DIY interior design project.
