Our Voices Carry Us Forward
Mural Artist: Lux Meteora
April 2026
This mural, located at Clear View Elementary School in Chula Vista, was designed by Lux Meteora in collaboration with students, whose ideas shaped the vision from the very beginning. Students contributed drawings, shared their perspectives, and helped paint the mural, leaving a lasting mark on their campus while building pride, ownership, and connection to their school community. Located at the front of the school, the mural serves as a vibrant and colorful welcome to all who enter, reflecting Clear View’s Voyager identity and its spirit of growth, leadership, and imagination.
The composition unfolds as a journey. It begins with native plants and hummingbirds, reflecting connection, curiosity, and collaboration. A lighthouse along the shoreline represents guidance and leadership, its light shining in both directions to show that students lead and support one another. From the ocean, a breaching whale symbolizes courage and boldness, leading into the central Voyager ship. A banner across the ship reads “Our Voices Carry Us Forward,” emphasizing student voice, agency, and shared direction, with movement in the flags capturing that energy in action.
Behind the ship, a rising sun with seven rays represents new beginnings and the Leader in Me habits, alongside a compass symbolizing goal setting and direction. The scene then expands outward, from ocean to Earth, reflecting inclusivity and global awareness, and into outer space, where stars and planets represent limitless imagination and possibility. Throughout the mural, butterflies, another recurring student idea, symbolize growth, transformation, and the strength of moving forward together.
Thank you so much to the Clear View PTA and the Tah Dah Foundation for making this project possible and to all of the students who helped paint this mural.
