This mural was designed by Ian Stiles-Mikl with input from community members from Clairemont, Bay Park, and adjacent businesses. The digitally printed mural serves as the centerpiece of ArtReach and SDG&E’s Morena Boulevard Beautification Project, bringing the community’s vision to life.

Topographic line-work divides the design into “windows,” each offering a glimpse into different local scenes. These include representations of Clairemont’s natural landscapes, such as the sunset and yucca silhouette, the red-tailed hawk, the bush sunflower, and the winding trails of Tecolote Canyon. The abstract water ripples and the Snowy Egret acknowledge the area’s proximity to the lively coast. Together, these elements create a vibrant mural for the neighborhood while showing the importance and natural beauty of the local ecosystems.
