Ian Stiles-Mikl, he/him

Mural Program Facilities Coordinator

Ian Stiles-Mikl is a visual artist and designer based in San Diego, CA. He obtained his BFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY with a concentration in painting. He is drawn to urban arts and how it can uplift a community.

In his personal work, he is influenced by graffiti, letterforms, and abstract expressionism. He often starts a painting with layers of journaling and drawings which become the framework for his art. It is a therapeutic exercise as important as the finished piece. Finding order in a chaotic process is what fuels the progression, giving a new purpose to text.
