Sound Station // Chula Vista

This mural, designed by artist Hanna Gundrum, is the final stop for students on their field trip experience at Sound Station -this room is where they will decide on which potential career in the arts they wish to pursue.
Hanna’s mural design showcases the diverse options available to students at Sound Station, including music production, sound engineering, graphic design, musical performance, and illustration. These options are represented by the record, computer, microphone, trumpet, guitar, and hand holding a pencil. A cool character can be seen skating through the scene, absorbed in the journey and the music, tying everything together. The bright and uplifting color palette symbolizes the bright future ahead for students pursuing a career in the arts. The computer screen’s motivational message, “Your Dreams are Powerful,” reinforces Hanna’s message that every student’s dreams are worth pursuing, and they are capable of making them come to life.
Hanna wants every student who enters this space to know that their dreams are powerful and they have the potential to achieve them.
The Sound Station experience is a collaboration between the Chula Vista Elementary School District and the City of Chula Vista. The Sound Station aims to immerse students in the creative process while simultaneously identifying their strengths and interests in potential careers in Southern California’s burgeoning creative economy.
