This mural was a joint effort between the ArtReach Mural Program and the entire student body of St. Columba. Over 120 students, from Kindergarten to 8th grade, helped paint this wall and it serves as a vibrant expression of the school’s guiding values. Designed by Esteban Sánchez, the mural brings color, creativity, and school pride right into the heart of the campus.

Depicting the acronym ‘PAWS’— People of Faith, Active Learners, Welcoming Friends, and Stewards of the World—the imagery features a prominent depiction of the fearless cougar, the school’s mascot and an animal indigenous to the region. Behind the cougar, mountain vistas bring light to the surrounding landscape of Serra Mesa. The sky, segmented into day and night scenes, showcases the sun and moon, embodying balance and unity, while stars dot the night sky. As a colorful backdrop for the communal lunch and play area utilized by the entire school, this mural stands as a bright and uplifting reminder of the St. Columba school values and connected school community.
